If You Can’t Beat ‘Em, Join ‘Em.
In yet another move made by Instagram to level the playing field with its competitors, Instagram has introduced Instagram Direct, a private messaging component to the photo sharing app. Similar to when the company released Instagram Video to compete with Vine just a few, short months ago, Instagram saw an opportunity to rival Snapchat and pounced. With the latest update, Android and iPhone users will be able to select up to 15 people they want to send their image or video to. While there is a very short lifespan for Snapchat messages, there is no indication that Instagram will implement the same strategy that Snapchat utilizes.
