2013 NBA Social Media Awards [Results]
While the Spurs and Heat stay locked in a fierce battle for an NBA championship, the NBA held it’s annual social media award show on Wednesday, highlighting the year’s best in social media within the sport. Whether or not this warrants a ceremony of sorts is up to you, but it’s safe to say that social media is alive and well within the NBA community. Getting to know current and former players on a personal level through Twitter and Facebook, makes it especially easy to cheer for them on the court. The players get a kick out of it too, posting frequently and giving us an inside view of team chemistry, as well as insight into their personal lives.
The night’s big winner was none other than the Black Mamba himself, Kobe Bryant, who took home the 140 Award (Best Tweet) and the Social MVP Â award. After joining Twitter in January, Kobe became a must follow account for his one-of-a-kind personality and his reputation for saying exactly what’s on his mind. Just ask Laker’s coach Mike D’Antoni.
